Living in Texas left big impressions upon me. I remember sitting on the porch of the Mothershed homestead eating watermelon on a sunny Sunday afternoon. After we were done, we stuck our watermelon rinds on a post of the fence and the cows would slowly begin to meander over to consume the treat I left for it. I was tickled. ..and today, I still find joy as I reflect on that memory.
